The Founding Story of the Rise Up Run Community
The Riseup Run Community (RRC) began as an initiative by Majlis Sukan Negeri Johor (MSNJ) to promote a healthy lifestyle among Johoreans, particularly those in the Johor Bahru - Iskandar Puteri region. Running was chosen due to its accessibility for all ages and its low-cost nature.
RRC was officially established in July 2022. In its early years, RRC's activities were closely tied to MSNJ, but by 2024, the community began operating independently, expanding its role and involvement within the running community. RRC has since established a dedicated committee to operate professionally, and it plans to register formally with its own constitution. The community is also exploring collaborations with various parties to ensure the sustainability and growth of RRC in the future.
